As regular readers will know I use social media a lot and I remember a few weeks back seeing a tweet on Twitter that simply read, this idiot just robbed someone on Yarm Road about 20 mins ago.
I’ve just read the amazing story behind that tweet and what happened next.
A ten-year-old boy saw Craig Royal steal a mobile phone from someone and thinking very quickly the boy took a photo of the thief on his mobile phone.
The boys father then uploaded the photo to Twitter and lots of people (including me) retweeted it. The tweet and photo were picked up by police, who were able to identify Royal and make the arrest.
Craig Royal was convicted of the theft at Darlington Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The quote from the boys parents says it all really “When he found out they had caught the guy, he was really quite chuffed.” So he should be, you must be very proud of him, what a star!!
